Team members

Michael Leaveck, AIA

Michael is cofounder and principal at L T D Architects.  He is a licensed Architect with two decades of experience in the field of Architecture. 

Michael received an architecture degree from the University of Michigan and a Masters with honors from UCLA’s prestigious School of Architecture. 

For 10 years, Michael honed his craft of Architecture as Project Architect at the award winning firms Studio Gang of Chicago / New York / San Francisco and Michael Maltzan Architecture of Los Angeles.  At these leading firms he delivered residential, commercial, and institutional work at all sizes from kitchen renovations  to high rise towers. 

After spending 15 years in Los Angeles, Austin, and Chicago,  Michael returned to his birth state of Michigan to continue his practice of architecture as well to share with his family his love of nature, cooking, and open water swimming in the endless blue of Lake Michigan.

Carolyn Telgard

Carolyn Telgard is a licensed architect and licensed realtor with Coldwell Banker Schmidt of Leland.

A proud Leelanau County local, Carolyn was practically raised at the Bluebird Restaurant and Tavern of Leland – a Telgard family business since 1927. And while she may have been poised to become a fourth-generation restaurateur, Carolyn instead opted for a change of pace and left the area to attend the University of Michigan, followed by UCLA’s graduate program in architecture.

Following graduate school, Carolyn remained in California and cut her teeth working at Rania Alomar, Design and Architecture (RA-DA) in West Hollywood. There she developed a passion for the challenges and intensity of construction administration and field work. While at RA-DA, Carolyn managed a variety of project types and scales, ranging from an Animal Shelter for the City of Los Angeles to retail + corporate projects for well-known companies such as Bugaboo and 72 & Sunny.

Upon leaving Los Angeles, Carolyn joined Austin’s premier architectural firm, Michael Hsu Office of Architecture. There, Carolyn continued to manage construction projects while broadening her project experience to high-end residential and restaurant design.

In 2013, seeking flexibility and independence, Carolyn shifted focus and obtained her real estate license while simultaneously founding L T D Architects.

Carolyn’s love for all things Leelanau drew her and her family back to the area in 2017.
